MB: A History of Epic Proportions
Mother's Boards was started as an attempt to make a DHC collaborative weekly flash series (although it turned out to be a Kris and Ben flash series). Although at the moment it's being post-poned in order to work on other projects, we plan on continuing it in due time. However, until then you can entertain yourself by reading this wonderful little background.

It all started one day when Kris IMed me (Ben) and said "We should make a weekly flash series," at which point I said, "OK, what would it be about though?". So we brainstormed for a few days (yes, we're slow thinkers) and finally came up with the concept of talking electronics. That idea of course was Kris's. So in the next few days Kris and I started writing scripts and script outlines. At this moment there are about 7 full scripts.

After that, drawing began. Kris and I both made an atempt at making character models, but once again, Kris won out. Not that I'm complaining or anything, it worked out fine in the end. So now that we had a story and some art, the only thing left was sound.

Originally, MB was supposed to have an opening credits sequence, using the song "We Hate it When Our Friends Become Successful" by Reel Big Fish. However, about one third of the way through that, we scrapped the idea and replaced it with the desktop layout for reasons such as filesize as well as time constraints. Finally, we needed voices, probably one of the most arduous tasks besides animation. So Kris and I went down the line, reading for characters, tossing out certain styles and thinking up new ones. Finally, we settled it all out (with my throat being particularly sore from voicing GCN), but were down one character: Jen. Luckily, we managed to find Kagome quickly though all of her work on NG and she gladly voiced the lines for us. And thus, the stage was set for Mother's Boards.

Well, I hope your day was enlightened by reading this passage. If it wasn't, then you must not have any soul. I mean, come on. People love reading things like this. I mean, it's on all those DVDs, right?
